The Track: Randwick is a large course with four sweeping turns. Generally fair, but tends to favour the on pace runners when the ground is rain affected.
Track Bias, Barriers: The 1600m start is located in a chute off the back straight. Long run before the first turn, but inside barriers have a slight advantage. They can race very wide in the home straight in search of the best going, but this can often leave an opening on the inside rail that can be taken advantage of with a smart ride.
Weight, Statistics: under handicap conditions over the mile, this race has seen some champion horses carrying top weight to victory, but the majority of Doncaster winners have been lighter weighted 3 and 4 year olds.
